ZeroWater Filter: Does It Work?
(NECN: Leslie Gaydos) - The 'Zero Water' Filter and Dispenser promises to bring the same quality as bottled water, without the hassle of lugging the jugs back home from the store. We decided to put it to the test.
It took us an hour to make a full pitcher. The device comes with a meter to measure the amount of dissolved solids in water. Tap water came out at about 219 parts per million, and after filtered, the water registered at just zero!
It's measuring natural deposits and man-made solids like road salts and aging piping. However, the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority, and other state water authorities, perform many tests every month under strict state and federal standards to make sure natural tap water is safe to drink.
You can definitely taste the difference, though. After being filtered, it tastes much fresher.
